it is fun to say things like, “well that is terribly inconvenient” matter-of-factly. as a matter of fact, it is actually quite fun to say the word “terribly” in general.
but i wonder… how often do our uses of these adjectives demean their true significance, and thus, before the eyes of man, demean the appearance of value of our subject?
to say a trip to the grocery store is an epic adventure, and then, to say that following Christ is an epic adventure?… one seems a bit off, don’t you think?
and i say this as someone who is guilty of this very thing.
